Guttering
New guttering systems, repairs, resealing, and replacement of blocked or broken sections — Legacy Roofing handles all guttering work across Berkshire and London.
A gutter system that does not drain efficiently does more than allow water to spill down a facade. Overflowing gutters saturate the pointing of brick walls, accelerate the deterioration of soffit and fascia boards, and can work water back under the lowest courses of tiles or slates. On properties with suspended timber floors, persistent overflow against the base of a wall can eventually cause dampness and floor damage.
Legacy Roofing carries out guttering work across Berkshire and London — from clearing blocked outlets and resealing leaking joints on existing systems to full replacements in UPVC, aluminium, or cast-iron-effect profiles.
UPVC is the most common and cost-effective choice for most domestic properties. For period properties in Wokingham town centre, around Windsor, or in any conservation setting, cast-iron-effect profile or genuine ogee-section aluminium gutters are often more appropriate and may be required to maintain character.
Valley gutters — the internal drainage channels where two roof slopes meet — are a specialist item often found on Victorian and Edwardian properties in Reading, Earley, and London's older terraces. Blocked or deteriorated valley gutters are a major source of roof space ingress and we address them as part of our broader roofing service.

Guttering — Common Questions
Once or twice a year is typical for most properties — more frequently if you have overhanging trees nearby. Autumn clearance before the heavy rain season is the most important.
The fall of the gutter may be insufficient — gutters need a slight slope toward the downpipe or water will pond and back up. We check and adjust falls as part of any gutter service.
Yes — section replacement is often the most cost-effective solution. We match profiles as closely as possible and advise if a full replacement would be more economical.
